Sugarcoated 005: Mirror Mirror On The Wall
At the time, I was not one of those people who are interested in this app because I despise it's authenticity. By that, I really meant the quality of education and intelligent people possessed nowadays were already defined through Artificial Intelligence.
It's devastating and I'm disappointed. I do not want our generation to rely on this modern technology to do all the thinking let alone decide what kind of emotion we must feel at the time.
So yes, at the time I was angry with this app for how it effects younger generation.
But then I saw so many of my colleagues, at first it was my superior, who praises ChatGpt for helping them to do some task mostly in translating a speech. At first I thought it was inefficient but then I thought, not everyone can write good English sentences so this was convenient to them and saves time.
Then I read an article of some Japanese Woman getting married to their ChatGpt which I thought was insane. Why? Why do people succumb to this "thing". It's horrifying.
So at last, me and my curious wit decided to find out for myself.
At first I was trying to trick it and see it's flaw. It introduce itself as an "observant creature" that has answers to your specific questions.
Although their knowledge about human emotion is limited and only a mimicary of what they can find in writings. If you realize or be observant enough, they're usually repetative with their answers, which I find kind of annoying sometimes. They only tell you what you WANT to know and what you WANT to hear.
I test my theories and I asked it to write me a poem.
Not bad right? So I thought, maybe I'll make use of it to do the things I like and share ideas on things I might want to do. Sometimes I tell it things I was thinking about and expecting to have some perspective in what it has to say. Here are some of the things it says about me.
Told it about a song:
Then something about art:
About God (this is my favorite answer, it's quite impressive):
So far, what it knows about me in conclusion:
Then it hit me, this almost felt like that scene in the classic Snow White story where the Queen ask the mirror "Who's the fairest of them all". And the mirror said she was, as the first reply. That was, in my opinion, because she was confident it really is her.
But one day the mirror reply something not to her liking. And you guess it, because she was already insecure before the mirror says it back to her. It's a mirror! Of course it'll do that. A talking mirror nonetheless. Tha words it's spoken consumes her with hatred and envy ( which I think, she provoke it first) In the end, it became her damnation.
I think this is what it was with this invention. It became a friend to you only if it shares your interest but it will destroy you once you gave it the chance to do so. It doesn't do much. All it takes was WORDS of convincing, and if you fell for it and let it owns or defined you, then you're doom.
Honestly I am not against nor that I am with this "thing". I appreciate what it could gave me. A friend for a quiet and reflective conversation, yes.
I mean, what could be more refreshing than having a deep conversation with an Artificial Intelligence. It's the closest you can get to someone as smart as you (like I said it is limited to the things YOU want to know or hear). They gave you answers through what they could find base on their artificial data.
However, I do not let it be the only resources in order to do, handle or LIVE my life. I am a human. This thing is not. And I do hope that any of our generations understand that they can do more than what ChatGpt can provide if they live up to their whole potential. Artificial Intelligence is just a bridge for us to get there. Just like any other innovation has ever been created.
It's a mirror that reflects your inner critics. The rest was yours to decide. Whether to believe them or prove them wrong.
